Yhteisnäyttelyssä on esillä Cédric Anglaret:n ääniteos sekä töitä seuraavilta Vadelma ry:n jäseniltä: Cecilia Alm, Tommi Hämäläinen, Tuulia Kasonen, Kalle Kuisma, Eeva Melvasalo, Katri Tuulia Pelander, Jonne Pitkänen, Kristiina Puukari, Susanna Salama, Antti Silvekoski sekä Jouni Viljakainen. Lisäksi näyttelyssä on esillä toukokuussa Suomen sosiaalifoorumin yhteydessä syntynyt kollektiivinen maalausseinä.

Visuaalisen taiteen ja elävän musiikin yhdistys Vadelma ry on syksyllä 2004 perustettu elävän kulttuurin yhdistys Helsingistä, jonka toimintamuotoihin kuuluu taide- ja soittotilojen ylläpitäminen, tapahtumien järjestäminen, katutason ja undergroundin elävän kulttuuriverkon vahvistaminen sekä erilaisten yhteisöllisten taiteen ja luovuuden muotojen omatoiminen etsiminen. Vadelma tuottaa sisältöä omalle nettitelevisiokanavalle sekä julkaisee vuosittain ilmestyvää Hillo-lehteä.

Väkivallan, rasistisen tai muutoin syrjivän materiaalin esittäminen on Vadelman periaatteitten vastaista. Vadelman jäsenen tulee kunnioittaa elämää ja moniarvoista maailmaa. Vadelmassa on tällä hetkellä jäseniä noin sata.

My work is a variety of actions, experiments or micro-events in the public space: an invitations to a blindfolded walk, to a walk of which every parameter is defined randomly, to an extremely slow walk on a daily journey; immobility in waiting rooms, going somewhere in order to smile to everybody I see, being present at the same spot everyday for a month…Some are participative -the spectator is actor- and others are performatives. In the latter ones no public is called to watch, the public is constituted of the people who are there at the time of the action and art is never mentioned. Through these actions I propose to shift aside the way we look at the world, “to give more attention to the attention itself” as writes Guy Tortosa. “Yes to the transitional objects that invite one who approaches them to move away in order to discover by himself.” “ Great art would be to make others more autonomous and more curious” - one can read further. By proposing simple actions in banal contexts that is what I am looking for; I try to provide a base, to initiate a curiosity that could lead to a different conciousness of the environment and hence make us think about the way we live. It is an ever moving work that tries to open -and be open- to the whole field of possibilities. I like to think of it as a work that builds itself as a heap of stones: piling up and falling down, taking another direction piling up and falling down again; the development being not towards a summit, a refinement but within the ever growing and moving mass of the stones.
